Graduation Requirements

  • To ensure all LAUSD graduates have the option to enroll directly into a university and be prepared for a career, the District has implemented a College and Career Readiness through A-G initiative. LAUSD has aligned its graduation requirements with the California State University (CSU) A-G requirements, beginning with the graduating class of 2016. Students must earn a grade of "D" or better in "A-G" courses, and meet California Department of Education Requirements as well as satisfying additional LAUSD requirements for graduation. We are making the high school diploma a document that gives students the choice to transition straight into a college or into a career.

Dear Parent/Guardian:

LAUSD has adopted a Middle School Culmination Activity and Certificate of Completion policy. This policy defines the criteria for issuing a Middle School Certificate of Completion and for students to participate in the Middle School Culmination Activity on June 11, 2021. It supports student achievement and guides students in preparing for matriculation from middle school to high school.

To earn a Certificate of Completion, students will be evaluated based on the marks and credits earned in the eighth grade. Students will earn 5 credits for passing each semester course with a ‘D’ or better. Grades from ALL subject areas will be used to determine credits earned in eighth grade.

Eighth grade students will be eligible to participate in the Culmination Ceremony in June if they meet the following requirements:

< >Students must earn 60 credits during 8th grade to be eligible for the Certificate of CompletionMaintain the district mandated 96% ATTENDANCE rate for the entire school year. Septiembre 2020
